Garment details

The Rushcutter is an oversized knee-length, A-line dress, designed for woven fabrics, available in two different styles.

The Rushcutter is beautifully designed and carefully drafted to include many interesting details, to make this a very enjoyable sew for sewers at a range of different levels. The pattern comes with instructions alongside full colour photographs that hold your hand every step of the way (there is also a 'cheat sheet' available for those of you who don't want your hand held) which can be printed at home, or simply viewed on a computer or tablet.

View A features three-quarter length raglan sleeves, large side pockets, invisible zip, bound neckline and a wide hem facing.

View B is a sleeveless version, with back button closure. It features in-seam pockets, with neckline and armholes finished with bias binding. Included in the pattern is an optional waist sash, that is suitable for both styles.

The pattern is available in 10 sizes (A - K) and is nested, to make it easier for you to grade between sizes. For more information about sizing, please visit the Sizing Chart.

See below for finished garment measurements.

Difficulty

The pattern is placed at a Level 4 on the In the Folds pattern skill scale, which means you should have a few projects under your belt before tackling this one.

Techniques involved include: sewing a straight seam, sewing a curved seam, bias facing armholes / neckline, sewing buttonholes, buttons and an invisible zip (depending on which view you decide to make).

Suggested fabrics

The Rushcutter is quite a versatile pattern and is compatible with a range of different fabrics. Consider using, light to mid-weight fabrics such as: cotton shirting, poplin, sateen, linen, silk, light to mid-weight wool, chambray, light to mid-weight denim. Your fabric choice will have a big impact on the silhouette you will achieve. For a more structured, boxy look, consider mid-weight denim, twill or jacquard. Or, for a more relaxed, draped look, consider a viscose blend or silk crepe de chine.
